Hogacre’s community allotment.
In January 2011, the former lawn tennis courts at Hogacre was turned into a thriving food garden by Oxgrow CIC. A variety of ground level and raised beds and polytunnels were set up. Seasonal vegetables and fruit were grown and supplied abundant produce to the growers, the community events and the cafe. They also experimented with growing other produce not grown in this country in those days such as soya and quinoa.
Today, weather permitting, the community allotment is open to everyone, children and adults of all ages, to learn to grow seasonal food together.
No prior growing experience necessary. And everyone involved enjoys the edibles!
Sign up for our irregular newsletter to hear about the growing sessions and other activities at Hogacre.
